Russian Sputnik V vaccine approved by government panel for emergency use in India
A government committee of experts has approved the Russian Covid-19 Sputnik V vaccine for emergency use in India.
The Comptroller General of Drugs of India (DCGI) has already given its go-ahead to two COVID-19 vaccines: Covaxin from Bharat Biotech and Covishield from Oxford-AstraZeneca, which are being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.
Sputnik V has shown an efficacy rate of 91.6 percent in the interim analysis of the phase 3 clinical trial, which included data on 19,866 volunteers in Russia.
