Sarah Palin wishes to run for U.S. House seat from Alaska.
On Friday, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential contender Sarah Palin declared her candidacy for Alaska’s lone congressional seat.
Palin would be making her first bid for public office since serving as John McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election, which saw Democrat Barack Obama elected president.
In a statement announcing her campaign on Twitter, Palin claimed that “America is at a turning point.” “I decided I had to step up and join the fight after watching the far left ruin the country.”
“At this important juncture in our country’s history, we require leaders who will stand up to the left’s socialist, big-government, America-first agenda,” she stated.
Palin’s 2008 vice-presidential campaign was defined by heated anti-establishment rhetoric, which acted as a forerunner to the ascent of former Republican President Donald Trump and the present Republican Party.
Republican Don Young, who had served in the House of Representatives for more than four decades, died abruptly last month at 88.
Palin’s campaign website, www.sarahforalaska.com, was launched on Friday evening. “Sarah Palin is running for Congress!” proclaims the site’s home page, soliciting money.
