Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is currently on a two-day official visit to India. He is scheduled to meet with S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister, on Friday.
Lavrov arrived in India Thursday. This is Lavrov’s first visit to India since Moscow launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2018.

Lavrov’s visit follows Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister,’s visit to India last week. It also comes before the 2+2 dialogues between India and the US scheduled for April 11.
After a two-day visit, the Russian Foreign Minister arrived in New Delhi.
Lavrov met with Wang Yi, his Chinese counterpart, on Wednesday in China. Both sides agreed to increase bilateral ties.
Lavrov informed China about the Russia-Ukraine negotiations, stating that Russia is committed to easing tensions, continuing peace talks and maintaining communication with international communities.
Along with representatives from Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, the Russian Foreign Minister was present at two multilateral meetings in Afghanistan.
Lavrov also met with representatives from China, Pakistan and was present at an “Extended Triika” meeting that included special Afghan envoys from the US and China.
