Sharad Pawar, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, said Tuesday that Mamata Banerjee’s call for a united fight against the BJP is the latest rallying point for opposition groups.
“We will take up the subject in Parliament tomorrow and see what we can do collectively in this regard,” Mr Pawar told reporters in New Delhi in response to Ms Banerjee’s letter to all non-BJP chief ministers and opposition leaders concerning the alleged misuse of central investigative agencies.
At a meeting of the Nationalist Youth Congress earlier, Mr Pawar said that the BJP was using raids by central investigative agencies to target opposition leaders for political reasons.

Today, he said, “Those in power think that people who don’t agree with them are enemies.” The CBI and ED raids on his party colleagues, Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh, are true.
“Every leader of the NCP, the Congress, and the Shiv Sena have something going against them,” Mr Pawar said. He said that prime minister Narendra Modi wants the BJP to rule from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, no matter what the people want.
The NCP leader said that Prime Minister Modi was promoting a movie that caused people to be angry instead of trying to heal old wounds.
“What happened to Kashmiri Pandits was bad for the country,” said Mr Pawar. “They had to leave their homes and come to this country.” But the people who run the country promote a film that makes people angry, he said.
He said the movie shows that Hindus and women were abused in Kashmir, but in reality, both Muslims and Hindus were abused by separatists. This is why he didn’t like the movie.
“In Kashmir, a group didn’t like both Muslims and Kashmiri Pandits, so they didn’t like them. Several Muslims and Kashmiri Pandits had to leave this area because they got help from across the border. But the movie is wrong because it shows that only Kashmiri Pandits force out of Kashmir,” Mr Pawar said.
