Simone Biles Gets Time’s ‘Athlete of the Year’ award.
A four-time Olympic gold medallist Simone Biles earned Time magazine’s “Athlete of the Year” honor, the publication said on Thursday.
The 24-year-old gymnast went for the Tokyo Games this year to change the records. Still, instead, she brought about an innovative, global discussion regarding mental well-being for athletes.
She was kicked out of the first event in Tokyo due to concerns about her mental health as well as an episode of “twisties,” a frightening.

Also, a deadly form of mental disorientation occurred while performing one of her feats of gravity-defying grace.
She then returned to the event, securing an Olympic bronze medal on the balance beam after getting the support of teammates in gymnastics and beyond.
“It showed us that we are more than the sport, that we are human beings who also can have days that are hard,” her teammate, Sunisa Lee, spoke to Time. “It humanized us.”
