Sonia Gandhi Tells to Track Vaccination of Congress-ruled states
Congressional President Sonia Gandhi met on Saturday with top ministers from states governed by Congress to review their efforts to combat Covid-19, including the availability of vaccines and access to medications and ventilators.
During the virtual meeting, the president of Congress told the prime minister to focus on testing, monitoring, and vaccination.
“Covid is emerging and as the main opposition party, it is our responsibility to raise issues and pressure the government to move away from public relations tactics and act in the interests of the people. Therefore, there must be transparency. Governments must disclose the actual number of infections and deaths in every state, whether it has been governed by Congress or not. ”
Gandhi also said that the vaccines should be provided to the Indians first and then the government should think about exporting them to other countries. “We should focus on India’s vaccination campaign first and foremost, then just export vaccines and give them away to other countries. We must emphasize responsible behavior that adheres to all Covid laws and regulations without exception. ”

Stating that all parties are united in the fight against Covid-19, Gandhi said: “Cooperation with states that respect federalism and, in turn, for us to be constructive and cooperate with the government in its efforts to combat the pandemic is equally important. We are all united in this fight ”.
Gandhi blamed the Center for “mishandling the situation” by exporting vaccines. “The government allowed a shortage to develop in India,” he said.
He also blamed mass gatherings during election rallies and religious events for the spike in cases. “The massive gatherings for elections and religious events have accelerated the Covid for which we are all responsible to some extent. We need to accept this responsibility and keep the interest of the nation above our own. ”
Pushing for strict measures to control the chart, Gandhi said: “In our states, we must take strict measures to ensure that the pandemic does not spiral out of control and to ensure large-scale testing, the preparation of adequate facilities, the temporary creation. We must make every effort to support those facing the brunt of the downturn in economic activity as restrictions become increasingly stringent. ”
Referring to the economic situation in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic, Gandhi asked the state government to look for the impact of government schemes so far and the next course of action that could be helpful. “The central government had announced several packages to help MSMEs and stimulate the economy. What impact have these packages had and what else should the Government do to address the ongoing crisis? Do you think that the economic recovery is taking place in the way that is officially stated? ”
