Street Fighter Cards Revealed in Magic the Gathering: The characters from Street Fighter have certainly made their mark on the world through the decades. From their original game, they’ve branched out to other titles, received their films and cartoons, as well as a few of them even were Power Rangers for a little time!
However, I must say that of all the games Street Fighter could’ve possibly crossed over to, Magic the Gathering was quite not on my list of priorities.
Wizards of the Coast, the card game Magic the Gathering creators, have released a new street fighter-themed Magic cards.
In this month’s MTG Secret Lair Super drop 9 Street Fighter, characters have gotten authentically licensed cards featuring original artwork and unique capabilities.
Street Fighter Cards Revealed in Magic the Gathering
These nine Street Fighter cards included in the Set are:
- Ryu, World Warrior
- Blanka, Ferocious Friend
- Chun-Li Numerous Kicks
- E. Honda, Sumo Champion
- Dhalsim, a Pacifist who is dependable
- Ken, Burning Brawler
- Guile, Sonic Soldier
- Zangief The Red Cyclone
The cards can play with Commander, Legacy, and Vintage game formats. Still, in the words of Wizards of the Coast Product Architect Mark Heggen, they’re primarily intended for use in Commander format.
Interview with IGN Heggen stated that Commander is the most compatible format for the cards. As the purpose of this format isn’t always to put the top deck together.
He stated that “if we create a card that can lead to a specific type of deck with an appropriate attitude. The deck will find an audience.
And this audience will play the deck and appreciate it and enjoy playing with the deck, not just because it’s a good decision to make.”
The Secret Lair Street Fighter set is available for purchase through the official website from March 19th. The regular Set for $39.99, or the foil set for $49.99.
