Supreme Court to hear bail plea of activist Navlakha today

The Supreme Court will hear on Monday activist Gautam Navlakha’s declaration of bail in the case of the Elgar Parishad-Maoist link.

A bank, made up of Judges UU Lalit and KM Joseph, had asked the National Investigative Agency (NIA) on March 15 to present its response to the activist’s bail statement, and decided to hear the same on March 22. March.

The higher court had noted the submission of Additional Attorney General SV Raju that the NIA be given more time to present its response to the guilty plea.

The activist had transferred to the high court on February 19 against the order of the Bombay High Court of February 8 dismissing his declaration of bail.

Navlakha has been seeking legal bond under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) on the basis that the NIA failed to submit the charge sheet within the stipulated period of 90 days, which entitles it to the posting of a bond for default.
