Team Europe take home their fourth time in succession Laver Cup.

Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev have won Alexander Zverev, and Andrey Rublev won the Laver Cup on behalf of Team Europe with a 6-2 6-7(4) 10-3 victory against The World’s Team’s Reilly Opelka and Denis Shapovalov on Sunday in Boston.

Team Europe began the day of the tournament needing just one victory in one of four planned games to take the victory and quickly won in the first match to take an overwhelming 14-1 lead.

“At the end of the day, the score says that it was 14-1, but it could have gone both ways a lot of the time,” Zverev spoke about in an interview with the court.

“We (did) a lot of hard work for this victory throughout the whole week… The group of this team has been amazing. I think a lot of us came a lot closer together, and to be honest, I can’t wait for London next year.”

Russian Rublev was awarded the silver medal for mixed doubles along with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the Tokyo Olympics. He said his Laver Cup victory was an extraordinary moment for him.

“This year, I had two emotional moments. One was the Olympic gold medal, and this week is the second,” Rublev stated. “It’s something that’s going to stay forever with me.”

Each time you win the Laver Cup awards an extra point on the day of winning and two points on Saturday and 3 points Sunday, and the first team that reaches 13 points being declared the winners of the competition.

Team World needed to win all four games in the finals to take home the trophy, but Opelka and Shapovalov could not finish the job, despite taking in the 2nd set.

Australian Nick Kyrgios, who was eliminated from his doubles and singles matches with Team World, said he played in his final Laver Cup.

“I’m sure I won’t be here again, so I took everything in this week,” Kyrgios stated. “I will be watching from my couch next Laver Cup, cheering for Team World.”

Team Europe has taken home the initial four events of the three-day competition named in honor of Australian legend Rod Laver.
