Texas School Shooting Updates: A Gunman Kills 21 People, Including 18 Students
A teenage gunman has slain at least nineteen children and two teachers in a shooting at a Texas primary school.
A week ago, another shooter killed 10 people at a Buffalo, New York supermarket.
The shooter, who has been recognized as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, was shot dead, allegedly by police officers at the site.
One of the shooting victims has been recognized as fourth-grade teacher Eva Mireles.
Her aunt added that she was “furious that these shootings continue” in a statement following the assault: “These children are innocent. Rifles should not be widely accessible to all.”
Three children who were slain in the assault have been identified as eight-year-old Uziyah Garcia, 10-year-old Xavier Javier Lopez, and 10-year-old Jose Flores.
After the assault, Joe Biden asked Congress to halt the “carnage” of gun violence in America, saying: “When are we going to stand up to the gun lobby in God’s name?”
The gunman Ramos allegedly shot his grandmother at her house in the morning before crashing his vehicle near the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
According to a Texas state lawmaker Roland Gutierrez, he then raced inside the school and started firing. Mr Biden said it was time to “turn this anguish into action” and alter gun legislation after the atrocity.
Several Injured in Texas School Shooting
University Hospital in San Antonio stated on Twitter that it has received four patients from the incident in Uvalde.
A 66-year-old lady and a 10-year-old child are listed in serious condition.
Uvalde Memorial Hospital reported 15 pupils from Robb Elementary were treated in its emergency department.
Two were taken to San Antonio for additional treatment, while a third patient transfer was ongoing. It was not immediately known if all of the pupils survived.
The hospital said that a 45-year-old victim grazed by a gunshot was also admitted at Uvalde Memorial.
The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center launched a public plea for blood donations.
They have already delivered over 15 units of blood and are running out. As a result, there is now a blood scarcity at the local hospitals where the injured are treated, said PTI.
Emergency blood donation appointments are being conducted on Wednesday.
The Suspect Name of the Texas School Shooting
Governor Greg Abbott reported that the man named Salvador Ramos, was presumably killed by police officers and that two policemen were injured by gunfire.
Still, the governor indicated their injuries were not severe.
