Cricket commentator-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan has opined that the lazy elegance of players like Rohit Sharma and Wasim Jaffer is initially misunderstood and people often think they need to work hard.
Having plenty of time to play even the fastest deliveries is taken as a gift in the world of cricket and Rohit Sharma is a type of hitter who is a master of this art. Irfan Pathan noted the same points and said that these players really work hard and that the perception of them is wrong.
“A lot of people make a mistake when they see a guy who is long and a little more relaxed like Rohit Sharma. So you say he needs to work hard! The same was said about Wasim Jaffer when you look at his aura when he used to run very relaxed when he used to hit he had a lot of time and we used to think why he wasn’t working hard, but actually he was working very hard, “said Irfan Pathan on Star Sports shows ‘Cricket Connected’.

The Baroda-born praised the vice-captain of the Indian team and stated that Rohit Sharma always spoke of sensible and declared him a man of the team who has been the reason for his success as the captain of the Mumbai Indians at IPL.
Rohit Sharma, who believes that the opportunity to play for India in 2011 to date worldwide has won the most number of IPL trophies in IPL. He has rounded up his troop of Mumbai Indians with 4 IPL titles and has even outshone MS Dhoni in the process.
“Similarly with Rohit, from the outside, we used to think that he might need to work harder, he might need to put more application. Every time he talked to Rohit Sharma, he always talked about sensible things, he always talked about working hard, and he always talked about the team. Also first, that’s why you see some of the results he got with the captain of the Mumbai Indians team, “said Irfan Pathan.
Irfan also opined that not being selected on the Indian team for the 2011 World Cup was a blessing in disguise for Rohit Sharma as he came back stronger after that. Irfan Pathan said Rohit Sharma developed a strong mindset after 2012.
“He took a beating from not playing the world cup and then came back very hard due to a strong mindset after 2012,” said Irfan Pathan, who retired in January 2020.
