PUBG Battlegrounds will be free to play to welcome new players

PUBG Battlegrounds will be free to play to “welcome new players,”: The PUBG Battlegrounds, One of the first Battle Royale games, will change from a paid game to a free match beginning on January 12th, 2022.

The majority of Battle Royale games, such as Fortnite and Apex Legends, have the free-to-play model, bringing PUBG to the same standard.

“As PUBG: Battlegrounds pioneered the battle royale genre and has grown into a globally influential game IP, this is the perfect time to transition to free-to-play and welcome new players to the game,” stated Krafton the CEO CH Kim.

“The game has seen a significant increase in players since we made it available into Early Access nearly five years ago, and we are convinced that it’s one of the most competitive prices in gaming.

In PUBG, Battlegrounds features two levels of play that players can purchase. If you choose to play free-to-play, do not play the game’s competitive mode; however, they will be able to access certain aspects of its “most basic features.”

But, players can buy Battlegrounds Plus, which will include an option to run a game, a bonus of 1,300 G-Coins, an increase in XP and the Career Medal tab, a Career Medal tab Custom Match functionality, and a few exclusive in-game accessories, including captain’s Camo Set. The price will be $12.99.

It is a good thing that players who have purchased the game before received an upgrade to the Battlegrounds Plus upgrade for free in the form of a unique PUBG Commerative Pack upgrade.

Upgrades will be made available to all players once that Free-to-play phase is completed.
