The United States will reissue travel guidelines for Mexico over Nuevo Laredo violence.
United States: Following violence near the US embassy in Nuevo Laredo, the US State Department renewed a travel advisory for Mexico on Wednesday, advising Americans not to travel to the state of Tamaulipas.
The consulate was briefly closed on Monday after a shootout following the arrest of Juan Gerardo Trevino, the alleged leader of the Organization Del Noreste drug cartel, over the weekend.
Trevino, also known as “El Huevo,” is wanted in the United States on federal drug trafficking and money laundering accusations and state homicide, terrorism, extortion, and criminal association allegations.

Employees at the US consulate were told to stay indoors on Monday. Americans in the region were asked to do the same or avoid the area.
According to a top Tamaulipas official, according to Reuters, at least one “collateral” death resulted from the violence.
