BJP politician Ram Kadam poked fun at Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Monday after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched his home and arrested him about the Patra Chawl property issue, calling it “divine retribution.”

Tweeted Ram Kadam, “Ye Kisne Kisko Kaha Tha? Ukhar Diya? It’s Isliye Kahawat Hain. Khud Ke Hi Ghar Mein Khada Hota Hain…Chingari Khel Bada Bura Hota Hain…Auro Ke Gharo mein Aag Lagane Ka Sapna. “Ye Ishwariya Dand Hain” Bharat ke Kanoon Tatha Shashakt Loktantra Ke Takaat Naye Badle Huye hain. Those who aspire to put other people’s homes on fire find themselves standing in their own homes, which is why people are advised not to play with fire. (Now tell who told this to whom. This is divine retribution. The strength of democracy is the New Law of New India.”

On Sunday, Mr. Raut had said that a “false” case had been created against him and that the central agency’s move was intended to damage the Shiv Sena.

After being questioned over the land dispute for many hours, the Shiv Sena politician was finally taken into custody at midnight.

In Mumbai, an FIR has been filed against Sanjay Raut for allegedly threatening Swapna Patkar, the wife of close Shiv Sena ally Sujit Patkar.

Sections 504,506, and 509 of the IPC were used to record the complaint at the Vakola police station.

Mr. Raut is purportedly heard threatening Ms. Patkar in a viral audio tape of her.

Notably, Swapna Patkar is a witness in the Patra Chawl land case, which is why Mr. Raut was arrested on Sunday by the Enforcement Directorate after many hours of searches at his home.

Sunil Raut, the brother of Sanjay Raut, said earlier on Sunday that his brother had been taken into custody. He will appear in court on Monday, according to Sunil.

“Sanjay Raut was taken into custody. He was detained because the BJP is terrified of him. They have not provided any documentation to us (regarding his arrest). He’s been set up. Tomorrow at 11.30 am, he will appear in court “Sunil Raut said on Sunday.

The sources claim that ED agents recovered 11.50 lakh in undeclared cash from Mr. Raut’s home earlier in the day.

After many hours of searches at his Mumbai home, Mr. Raut was taken into custody by Enforcement Directorate (ED) agents on Sunday in connection with the Patra Chawl land fraud case; however, Sanjay Raut’s lawyer had previously claimed that his client was neither taken into custody nor arrested.

“Sanjay Raut received a new summons from ED this morning.

Sanjay Raut has been to the ED office to record the statement in light of this. He hasn’t been detained or arrested, “Counsel for Raut had said. Around 7 am on Sunday, ED investigators conducted the raid at Mr. Raut’s home.

The Shiv Sena leader said that “he won’t be cowed down” shortly after being held by ED agents in connection with the Patra Chawl land fraud case.

When addressing the media, Mr. Raut stated: “People are being falsely accused of crimes and given false documentation. All of this is being done to undermine Maharashtra and the Shiv Sena. Sanjay Raut will not be intimidated. I won’t leave the gathering.”

Sanjay Raut was called by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 28 regarding the investigation into the $1,034 crore Patra Chawl land scam and the prevention of money laundering.

He had challenged the investigation agency to arrest him after refusing to cooperate and using the Monsoon Session of Parliament as an excuse. He eventually arrived at the ED office.

According to reports, the ED, which previously detained businessman Avinash Bhosale of Pune in connection with the DHFL-Yes Bank case, wants to question Mr. Raut about this. They asserted that the DHFL and Patra Chawl ED cases are connected.

As part of this inquiry, the ED temporarily attached Varsha Raut and two of Mr. Raut’s colleagues’ assets in April, totaling more than 11.15 crore.
