TMC MP Mahua Moitra Attacks BJP On Spike In Suicides Among Daily Wage Earners

Mahua Moitra, a member of the Trinamool Congress, intensified her criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in light of the most recent statistics from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Daily wage workers continued to be the biggest category of suicide victims in 2021, accounting for 42,004 suicides, according to the NCRB’s “Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India” report (25.6 percent).

The percentage of daily wagers among suicide deaths in the nation has surpassed the quarter-mark for the first time, marking a continuous rise since 2014.

An everyday wage employee made about one in four of the 1,64,033 suicide victims that were reported during 2021, according to the most recent NCRB study.
