Tool Case: Advocate Nikita Jacob Moves Bombay HC For Transit Bond
Advocate Nikita Jacob, a suspect in a case recorded by Delhi police in connection with the “toolkit” shared by climate activist Greta Thunberg about the ongoing farmers’ protest, approached the Bombay High Court on Monday in looking for an advance transit bond.
A Delhi court has issued an arrest warrant for Jacob and another defendant in the case. According to the Delhi police, the duo allegedly participated in the preparation of the document and was in direct contact with “pro-Khalistani elements”.
Jacob’s guilty plea in pursuit of an urgent hearing was brought before the single court of Judge PD Naik of the Bombay High Court on Monday. The superior court said it would hear the guilty plea on Tuesday. Jacob, in his guilty plea, requested advance traffic bond for a period of four weeks so that he could go to the appropriate court in Delhi to request a pre-arrest bond.
The defender in her guilty plea said she does not know if she is named a defendant or a witness in the case. “However, the plaintiff (Jacob) fears that she may be arrested due to political revenge and media judgment,” her application reads.
In addition, he said that the FIR registered in the case was “false and without foundation” and that Jacob already cooperated with the cyber cell of the Delhi police and registered his statement.

“Some entity called the Legal Rights Observatory appears to have filed a false and unsubstantiated complaint with the Delhi police and seeks to blame the applicant for the violence of January 26, 2021 as well,” the statement said.
According to the request, on February 11, a team from Delhi police arrived at Jacob’s home in the Goregaon area of Mumbai with a search warrant and seized documents and electronic gadgets.
“The applicant does not have a religious, political or financial motive or agenda to research, discuss, edit and circulate communication packages / toolkits to raise awareness, much less incite violence, riots and / or cause any other physical damage, “the application says.
He said Jacob was a practicing attorney at the Bombay High Court who volunteered for environmental causes.
“The applicant was deeply concerned by recent farm laws and villainy by farmers,” the application read.
He said that Jacob’s personal information and details are circulating on social media.
The request further stated that outright lies are being spread to incite hatred and violence against Jacob by claiming he has ties to political parties such as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Delhi police arrested 21-year-old environmental activist Disha Ravi from Bengaluru on Saturday in connection with the case. She was presented to a Delhi court on Sunday, which kept her in police custody for five days.
Greta Thunberg, a teenage climate activist, had shared the “toolkit” to support the agitation of farmers near Delhi’s borders against the Center’s three farm laws. In the document, several urgent actions were listed, including creating a Twitter storm and protests in front of the Indian embassies, which were necessary to support the farmers’ protest. The toolkit has been cited by some critics as “proof” of his conspiracy to stoke protests in India.

More than 500 members of the police security personnel were injured and one protester died during the Republic Day violence. Earlier, the Delhi police had asked Google and some social media giants to provide information on email identifiers, URLs and certain social media accounts related to the creators of the “toolkit” shared by Thunberg and others on Twitter in connection with the farmers’ protest. .
