New Delhi, February 19: Delhi police told the Delhi High Court on Friday that they have not leaked any information to the media in relation to their investigation at the FIR against climate activist Disha Ravi for her alleged involvement in sharing a toolkit supporting the farmers protest in progress.
The petition filed by Ravi argues that the leakage of her private WhatsApp chats, as well as the alleged admissions and disclosures of her during the time she was in police custody, have resulted in subsequent partial media reporting on her.
Ravi said that she is “gravely aggrieved and harmed by the media trial surrounding her arrest and the ongoing investigation, where she is being viscerally attacked by Defendant 1 (police) and various media outlets.”
His petition alleges that investigative matters have been leaked to the media and that the police press conferences are “harmful” and “seriously in violation of his right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence.”

“The illegal actions and omissions on the part of the accused have irrevocably violated the fundamental right to privacy of the petitioner, her right to reputation, her dignity and the consequent effect of the administration of justice and the right to a fair trial”, the petition says.
He has claimed that the police first “leaked investigative material”, such as alleged WhatsApp chats, the substance and details of which were only in the possession of the investigating agency.
Thereafter, the “alleged private WhatsApp chats” were published and disseminated by various media, which constituted a violation of the provisions of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Law of 1995 (CTN Law) , the Program Code, and the Uplink and Downlink Guidelines. the petition has alleged.
It has also stated that “the media have published suggestive, defamatory, one-sided innuendo and half-truths about the petitioner.
