Travis Scott claims he did not know the reason for Astroworld’s crush at the concert.
LOS ANGELES – Rapper Travis Scott has said he did not know of any problems during his Astroworld show last month.
It could have forced him to cancel the show and denied the high-energy culture he promoted was the cause of the mass shooting that claimed the lives of 10 people.
In the first interview, he has given about this surge of crowds that caused injuries to many fans at Scott’s Houston concert in November.
5 Scott claimed he did not realize that people were killed or injured until after he had left the stage.
However, he also felt the obligation to discover what transpired and to take action to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.
“I didn’t know the exact details until minutes before the press conference (after his performance),” Scott stated to the radio host Charlamagne that he was God during an interview which aired via the YouTube channel last Thursday.
Scott was forced to stop the show twice before, the first time to summon security to assist the fan who had passed out.
But he said that the sound on stage and the pyrotechnics were making his life difficult to understand what was going on.
“You want to make sure fans get the proper attention they need. So anytime I could see anything like that, I did. I stopped it a couple of times to make sure everybody was OK. And I go off the fans’ energy as a collective call and response. I didn’t hear that,” he added.
“You can only help what you can see, and whatever you’re told, whenever they tell you to stop, you stop,” said the man.
Lawyers representing over 200 victims by the 50,000-strong crowd have filed over 90 suits to Scott and the concert promoters Live Nation Entertainment Inc.
Scott’s attorneys have filed paperwork that denies legal responsibility for the injuries and deaths.
“Fans come to the show to have a good experience, and I have a responsibility to figure out what happened here. I have a responsibility to figure out the solution,” Scott stated in the interview.
Scott 30 urged the fans to “rage” and make the “earthquake” but said his goal was to get fans to enjoy themselves.
