Trent Boult, Henry Nicholls Concern New Zealand For England Test

Trent Boult and Henry Nicholls have been chosen to New Zealand’s team for the first Test against England, which begins on Thursday at Lord’s.

Boult, who represented Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League final on Sunday, is unlikely to recuperate in time for the five-day Test match.

Due to physical issues and a touch of the coronavirus, Nicholls’ trip to England has been interrupted.

“We’ll see how Trent does, but I’ve had a few chats with him in this lead-up.” On Monday, New Zealand head coach Gary Stead told reporters, “It’s part of the globe and the way it is right now with the intricacy of putting schedules together.”

“Having the IPL on top of that adds another element to everything.”

“I think this isn’t anything new to us since we’ve gone through it previously with various players.” We’ll take care of it and figure out what’s best for us in the future with Trent.”

“At the present, we believe Henry will be unlikely to play,” Stead said of Nicholls, whose middle-order place should go to Daryl Mitchell.

“Covid pushed him back a week or two from where we wanted him to be, but he’s doing well.”

At Lord’s, Stead chatted with the new England coach and fellow Kiwi Brendon McCullum.

He conceded that having one of New Zealand’s most famous players suddenly leading an opponent was uncommon.

“It’s already bizarre.” I had previously gone over the ground with him. “I believe he went to the correct dressing room; he went left, and I went right,” Stead said.

“I haven’t given much attention to Brendon and his influence since we’re focused on how we’ll play, but I have no doubt he’ll have an immediate impact.”

“Brendon’s heart-on-sleeve style of play will be a welcome addition to the England side.” It’s always good to have Kiwi coaches in demand all around the globe,” says the coach.
