New Delhi, February 16: In a recent development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the NDA government is “trying to rectify the mistakes of previous governments” that sadly did not honor the warriors and freedom fighters who deserve it.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Maharaja Suheldev Memorial and the development work of Lake Chittaura, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said that the history of India is not only what was written by those who enslaved to this country and those with a slave mentality.

Accusing previous governments of failing to honor worthy leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and BR Ambedkar, he said: “It is regrettable that deserving leaders have not been given the place of pride they deserve.”
“The injustice and manipulation done to those who created history, by those who wrote history, is being corrected by India today,” Prime Minister Modi added.

The projects, which include the construction of a 4.20-meter-high statue of the warrior king Suheldev, will reportedly also focus on the development of various tourist services, such as a cafe, a guest house and a children’s playground.

King Suheldev is an icon of the Rajbhar community. He had defeated and killed General Ghaznavid Ghazi Saiyyad Salar Masud in a battle on the shores of Lake Chittora in Bahraich in 1033.
After coming to power, the Narendra Modi government has taken concerted steps to popularize Suheldev. Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the prime minister had released a postage stamp in memory of Suheldev and marked an ultra-fast ‘Suheldev Express’ train that runs three times a week between Ghazipur in Purvanchal (UP) and Anand Vihar in Delhi.
