Two days after Biplab Deb quotes Amit Shah in jest, Nepal objects

The NEPAL government has raised its objection to a comment, which Tripura’s Chief Minister Biplab Deb attributed to Union Interior Minister Amit Shah during his tenure as party head, that the BJP will form a government not only in the Indian states, but also in Nepal. good.

Heading to a party event in Agartala on Sunday, Deb jokingly quoted Shah as suggesting that the BJP has plans to expand to Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Nepalese Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said on Tuesday that the government has taken note of media reports and “the formal objections conveyed to the government of India.” Sources from the Foreign Ministry said that Nepalese Ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya raised formal objections.

The ruling Communist Party of Nepal and the main opposition Nepalese Congress criticized Shah’s alleged comment, claiming that it amounted to undermining Nepal’s sovereignty.

In her speech on Sunday, Deb said that Shah once shared during a meeting with party leaders in Tripura about the expansion of the BJP to Nepal and Sri Lanka. Shah was the national president of the BJP at the time, Deb said, adding that his visionary ideas transformed the BJP into the largest political party in the world.

“We were talking at the state boarding house in Agartala, when [party leader] Ajay Jamwal said that most states have the BJP in power. In response, Amit Shah said that Nepal and Sri Lanka remain. We have to win there too, ”Deb said, laughing.

Referring to the upcoming Assembly elections in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Deb said that the BJP would come to power in both states. “There will no longer be CPM or Congress in Kerala. Narendra Modi goes there and Amit Shah has already got there. In Tamil Nadu we will also form the next government. There will be no government other than the BJP, ”Deb said.

Although Deb made the statement jokingly, just 24 hours later, the state BJP came out in support of her and said she had spoken the truth about the BJP’s long-term ideological ambitions. “We started working to extend our Indian philosophy and culture to different countries for a long time. We never consider the voting contest as our main objective. We are considering winning people everywhere, ”said Nabendu Bhattacharya, spokesperson for Tripura BJP.

Stating that the Congress Party and the Communist Party have a global presence like the Congress of Nepal or the Communist parties in different nations, he asked why the BJP ideology cannot be spread around the world. “We believe that the culture and philosophy of India are the best and we want to spread them to other countries. We do not work only for political ambitions. Biplab Deb said the exact same thing. What’s wrong with that? he said.

The veteran of Congress and vice chairman of the state party Tapas De said that no one should interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, as both Nepal and Sri Lanka are sovereign countries. CPI (M) leaders were not available for comment. BJP leaders in Delhi also declined to comment on the issue.
