The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday (February 8, 2022) arrested two terror groups belonging to the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) within the Anantnag district.
They also detained 11 suspects, which included three hybrid terrorists.
The incriminating material, including weapons and ammunition, was found in their possession.
“Based on credible inputs that proscribed terror outfit JeM is planning to carry out attacks on Police and Security Forces in Srigufwara Bijbehara areas of Anantnag, multiple checkpoints were established at various locations,” an officer from the police said.
While checking one of these checkpoints in the Sakhras crossing in Srigufwara village, three people riding a bicycle were spotted and apprehended as they attempted to escape.
The police reported that they found 2 Pistols (Chinese), and ammunition and magazines were recovered during their search.
During the preliminary interrogation, the suspects revealed their identities by showing their names as Abbas Ah Khan, a liver resident, Zahoor Ah Gowgujri from Vidday, and Hidayatullah Kutay, who was a citizen in Liver Pahalgam.
They also stated that they have ties to JeM and have close contact with Pakistani-based handlers.
They also revealed that at their request, they had plans to target police security forces in the Srigufwara region and later become part of the terror outfit KFF (an offshoot from JeM).
Following their subsequent information, two other terror associates, namely Shakir Ahmad Gowgojri citizens in Viday Srigufwara and Musharaf Amin Shah from Katsoo Srigufwara, were arrested.
The evidence, including weapons and ammunition, was also seized in their possession.
In the same way, Anantnag Police busted another terror cell in the Bijbehara area, arrested six terror associates from KFF, and seized evidence, including ammunition.
Fayaz Ah Khan Muntazir Rashid Mir Mohd Arif Khan Adil Ah Tarray Zahid Ahmad Najar. The sixth is a minor (identity is not disclosed).
Police have opened a case, and the investigation is ongoing.
