According to a report, an aircraft carrying U.S. troops landed in Poland on Sunday. According to a report, Washington is bolstering its NATO Allies throughout Eastern Europe amid a Russian military expansion along Ukraine’s border.

On Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden has directed almost 3,000 more soldiers for Poland and Romania as Washington takes steps to calm nervous NATO allies.

The arrival on Sunday of the C17 aircraft came after an aircraft carrying the commander-general for the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Major General Christopher Donahue, that landed on the weekend at the airport of Rzeszow-Jasionka, as well as several planes carrying U.S. military equipment and an “advance group.”

It’s not certain how many troops were on the way. However, the C17 airplane is “designed to drop paratroopers and their equipment to 102,” According to the U.S. Air Force website.

“Our nation’s contribution here in Poland displays the solidarity of all our friends in Europe and, evidently, in these times of uncertainty, we know we are stronger as a team,” Donahue said on Sunday.

Polish defense minister Mariusz Blaszczak said minutes after the plane touched down that this was the first time he had seen a group consisting of American troops “from the most elite of units.”

“…More planes are scheduled to land in the next few hours. The soldiers will be operating in the southeastern region of the country,” said the official.

Russia has said it is not planning to attack Ukraine. However, it has put up greater than 100,000 troops close to the borders of Ukraine and has said it is prepared to take military action if its demands are not met, which includes the pledge by NATO not ever to admit Ukraine.
