After meeting with China’s senior diplomat Yang Jiechi in Rome, US national security advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters, “We have expressed very clearly to Beijing that we will not stand by.” “No country will be allowed to recompense Russia for its losses.”

According to a U.S. official, the seven-hour discussion was “intense” and represented “the severity of the occasion.”
