To decide the presidential election next week, Uddhav Thackeray has scheduled a meeting of the Shiv Sena MPs for this coming Monday.
The meeting would start at midday, according to Vinayak Raut, a Sena MP from Sindhudurg, who spoke to PTI on Sunday.
According to him, the topic of discussion is the party’s position in the July 18 presidential election.
Before this, a few Shiv Sena MPs requested that the leadership back Droupadi Murmu of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The Sena previously parted with the NDA and backed Pratibha Patil’s and Pranab Mukherjee’s candidacies (both Congress leaders). In 2019, when the party established a coalition government in Maharashtra with the Congress and NCP after dumping its previous ally BJP, the Sena broke away from the NDA.
Rahul Shewale and Rajendra Gavit, two Sena MPs, wrote to Thackeray last week to request the party’s support for Ms Murmu.
