Ukraine Strikes in Russia’s Belgorod Fuel Depot.
According to a Russian official, a fuel store in the Russian city of Belgorod was bombed by two Ukrainian military helicopters on Friday.
It marks the first accusation of a Ukrainian airstrike on Russian soil since Moscow invaded its neighbor in late February.
The supposed attack was captured on video. Many missiles were fired from a low altitude, followed by an explosion. The photographs have yet to be verified by Reuters.
Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov claimed that the helicopters struck the plant after crossing the border at a low height.
Gladkov stated that the subsequent fire injured two workers. Several portions of the city near the Ukrainian border were evacuated.
However, the fuel depot’s owner, Russian oil company Rosneft, claimed in a second statement that no one was injured in the fire, though it did not specify what caused it.
The Ukrainian defense ministry could not be reached for comment right away.
On Wednesday, a munitions dump in Belgorod caught fire, resulting in explosions. Gladkov said that officials were waiting for the Russian defense ministry to establish the reason for the incident.
