More than a year after the introduction of the police station system in Noida and Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to amend the Uttar Pradesh Goondas Control Act.
Under the amendment, the power to invoke the law has been given to the deputy commissioners of police in the two cities. Previously, only the Police Commissioner had the power to take action under the law.
The Goondas Control Act of Uttar Pradesh, (Amendment) Bill 2021 is likely to be placed in the next session of the State Assembly starting on February 18.
