US Defence Secretary & Top Pentagon Officials Condole Untimely Demise Of CDS Bipin Rawat. 

Top Pentagon officials such as the Secretary of Defence Llyod Austin III, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Mark Milley, and Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby extended their deepest condolences for India’s tragic death’s chief Defence Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat.

In a statement issued late Wednesday evening, US Defense Secretary Austin noted that General Rawat left an “indelible mark” on the direction of the defense alliance. 

Also, it is at the heart of the Indian Armed Forces’ transformation into a more fully interconnected warfighting unit.

US Military Commander General Milley added that he felt honored to have met General Rawat in announcing that he had a wonderful time during his most recent trip back to US Military commander General Milley in September. 

CDS Rawat and his wife were killed in a helicopter crash

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika died when the Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter carrying them crashed. 

The accident occurred near Coonoor within Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. They were on their way to the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington.

Except for Captain of the Group Varun Singh, all the crew members passed away from injury. They were later declared dead upon being transported to the Military Hospital in Wellington. 

Captain Singh is currently receiving treatment at the Military Hospital in Wellington.

According to sources, the army identified the other victims killed in the crash as comprise Brig LS Lidder Lieutenant Col Harjinder Singh NK Gursewak Singh NK Jitendra Kumar and L/Naik Vivek L/Naik B Sai Teja, and Hav Satpal.
