US Embassy is in Ukraine declares the attack on the nuclear power plant a 'war crime'

US Embassy is in Ukraine declares the attack on the nuclear power plant a ‘war crime.’

If you want to know what’s going on in Washington, you can check out this report from Reuters. Russia took over a Ukrainian nuclear power plant on Friday.

The US Embassy in Ukraine said that attacking a nuclear power plant is a war crime.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, the US hasn’t said much about what Russia has done there.

“During the war, it is against the law to attack a nuclear power plant with a bomb or other weapon. Putin’s attack on Europe’s largest nuclear power plant is the next step in his reign of terror, so it’s even worse. “The US Embassy in Kyiv said this in a post.

Russia’s invasion forces took over Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant in Ukraine, causing global alarm. A fire in a training building was put out, and officials said the plant was now safe.

A “monster attack” by Ukrainian saboteurs caused the fire at the plant, said Russia’s defense ministry. It said its forces were in charge of the situation.

According to CNN, the State Department sent a message to all US embassies in Europe, telling them not to share the Kyiv Embassy’s tweet calling the attack a war crime. In addition, the statement said not to retweet the tweet.

The State Department didn’t answer a question from Reuters about whether the Kyiv Embassy’s tweet is representative of the whole US government.

Rights groups say that international war crimes law has been broken in Ukraine. They say that civilians have been killed, and schools and hospitals have been bombed indiscriminately.

On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden said, “It is too early to say that. It is too early to say that.”

He said he would leave that decision to the International Criminal Court. Still, John Kirby said he couldn’t answer the question.

“In this way, it shows how careless the Russian invasion has been and how indiscriminate their targeting has been. People don’t want to see the possible disaster rise to a level that nobody wants to see. “A CNN reporter asked Kirby about it, and he said:

However, there is no way that a responsible nuclear power would act like this.

Britain has said that the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin is guilty of war crimes.

The ICC, the world’s top war crimes prosecutor, is looking into reports that cluster bombs and artillery fire have been used against Ukrainian cities. 39 member states have asked the ICC to look into the reports.

ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan says the crisis in Ukraine is a chance to show that people who commit war crimes will be held to account.

A US State Department spokesperson told Reuters that killing civilians and civilian objects is a war crime.

However, the US supports the investigation, especially Khan’s efforts to keep evidence of possible atrocity crimes safe.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, has strongly denied claims that Russian forces have hit civilian infrastructure or residential areas.
