Uttar Pradesh closing news: As the Uttar Pradesh government has imposed a tighter blockade across the state on weekends to stop the spread of Covid-19, there appears to be less chance of the Delhi-Noida border opening any time soon.
In issuing an order, Additional Chief Secretary (Home and Information) Awanish Awasthi said the restrictions would be imposed on Saturdays and Sundays at least during the month of July.
Based on these updates, there appears to be no chance that the Delhi-Noida border will open before the end of July. And if crown cases continue to rise, the state government could also extend the sealing of the borders until further notice.
The decision has been made to control the spread of the coronavirus from the national capital, where cases have crossed the 1 lakh mark.
The blockade on weekends will be implemented in crowded areas and markets and offices will be closed these days.
However, banks will remain open, and people with electronic passes may cross the border. During the closing, locals can use their private vehicles, but only for essential purposes and medical emergencies.
In addition to government offices, shopping malls and restaurants will also not function during the closing of this weekend in Uttar Pradesh. Also, banks and medical facilities can work as they are considered part of essential activities.
The development comes when the state’s Gautam Buddh Nagar reported on Friday a death more related to COVID-19, while 84 more people were found to be infected with the new coronavirus.
The death toll in the district reached 38 and the number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 so far increased to 3,940.
