Vinai Kumar Saxena will take oath as Delhi Lt Governor on May 26

On Thursday, Vinai Kumar Saxena will be sworn in as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi in a ceremony at the Raj Niwas that is likely to draw hundreds of people, including Union ministers.

According to official sources, more than 500 luminaries have been invited to the occasion, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues, high court judges, Union ministers, MPs, and MLAs.

Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court Vipin Sanghi will administer the oath of office to Mr Saxena, 64, in a ceremony set to begin at 11 a.m.

Mr Saxena, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) head, was named Lt Governor of Delhi earlier this week after his predecessor Anil Baijal’s retirement for “personal reasons.”

According to reports, the oath-taking event has been invited to ten Union ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah.
