Ajit Agarkar, a former India paceman, expressed concern about Virat Kohli’s batting form.
At the same time, Team India prepares for a three-match ODI and T20I series home under the guidance of Rohit Singh.
Speaking exclusively on Star Sports’ “Game Plan,” Agarkar gave an honest assessment about Kohli’s batting woes.
He also called his form a concern for the entire team. Although Virat Kohli’s form is a concern, we all know how good he is.
He said he hoped that he would discover his form sooner than expected.
Agarkar, however, highlighted the fact that Kohli could be a “key player” in India’s chances but that it would all depend on “how quickly he discovers his form.”
“We have discussed different combinations before – Virat Kohli would play a key role because of his ability to play the game, but at the moment he’s not at his best. Rohit Sharma will then be able to manage the thing much quicker because of what Virat Kohli can do on his own,” he said.
The former pacer said that winning matches is crucial for maintaining team morale.
It also helps the team enjoy the success and individual contributions of the players.
He stated, “At the end, you’re only successful as your team and if you don’t win, it eventually doesn’t matter how great you are on the field. It’s not fun playing in the team.”
The three ODIs will be played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on February 6th, 9th, and 11th.
The T20I series, consisting of three matches, will follow the ODIs.
It will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on the 16th-18th and 20th of February.
