Walmart will stop tobacco sales in few stores in the United States. 

Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, announced that tobacco products would no longer be sold in certain of its more than 5,000 locations across the United States.

The firm did not say how many stores would be affected by the change, but it would not completely abandon the category.

According to the Wall Street Journal, which broke the story first, California, Florida, and New Mexico are among the states where cigarettes are being phased out of retailers.

According to the Journal, Walmart has implemented a new store design that includes more self-checkout registers. 

Also, other things such as grab-and-go food or sweets near the front of the shop in place of Marlboro, Newport, and other tobacco products.

Due to increased regulatory complexity and ambiguity, CVS became the first U.S. pharmacy chain to remove cigarettes from the shelves in 2014. 

However, Walmart halted sales of e-cigarettes and electronic nicotine delivery products at its U.S. shops a few years later.

Several Democratic senators in the United States have pushed Walmart and other stores to discontinue selling tobacco products entirely.
