The West Indies secured a thrilling 17-run victory against Bangladesh in the second and final round to complete a clean sweep of the series on Sunday.
The West Indies won the first round over three wickets, chasing a whopping 395-run goal.
Offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall played a key role, finishing the match 9-179 as the West Indies secured the series despite stubborn resistance from Mehidy Hasan.
Cornwall followed their 5-74 at 4-105 in the second inning to help the Bangladeshi teams lead 213, with the hosts chasing a goal of 231.
The secondary player broke several key associations at various stages of the game to keep tourists’ noses out front.
But Mehidy made sure the West Indies had to work to win. With Bangladesh’s ninth wicket dropping 43 runs away from goal, Mehidy devised an aggressive brand of cricket.
He hit Cornwall six times twice in his consecutive overs and found the limit regularly to keep the team interested.
But he came up short and was sacked while delivering a left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican on the first slip, where Cornwall took a difficult catch to seal the victory.
Bangladesh got off to a decent start in pursuit of 231 after their pitchers, led by left spinner Taijul Islam (4-36), defeated the West Indies 117 in their second inning.
Starter Tamim Iqbal hit 50 of 46 balls, hit nine fours and shared a 53-run starting position with Soumya Sarkar.
As his spinners failed to break partnership, Captain Kraigg Brathwaite (3-25) found success with his half-time diversion.
He made his way through Soumya’s wicket for 13 and Tamim soon followed, chipping one straight into the short cover.
Cornwall then broke Bangladesh’s middle order on a pitch that offered a variable rebound, reducing the hosts to 115-5, including Mushfiqur Rahim’s key wicket (14).
Joeml Warrican, 3-47, helped the side edge close to victory, sending skipper Mominul Haque for 28 before Cornwall fired Liton Das (22), who looked comfortable during his spell.
Previously, the West Indies were eliminated 117 in their second inning, after resuming at 41-3. Nkrumah Bonner was the leading scorer with 38, while Joshua Da Silva had 20.
Pacer Abu Jayed (2-32) scored two goals in the morning session. He caught night watchman Warrican lbw for 2 before firing first trial double centurion Kyle Mayers for 6.
Mayers after his epic 210 not out, scored 5 and 6 in his two innings in the second test.
Left arm spinner Taijul Islam (4-36) then eliminated Jermaine Blackwood for 9, traded by Liton Das before Bonner and Da Silva stabilized the tourist tickets until halftime.
Bonner (90) and Da Silva (92) teamed with 118 runs in the first innings to help the West Indies score 409.
This time Taijul broke the partnership, firing Da Silva for 20 and the West Indies then collapsed, losing their last four wickets for 13 races.
Bangladesh was eliminated 296 in their first innings to concede a 113-run lead.
