White House says there will be no lockdown due to the Omicron wave.

Washington: The Biden Administration has made clear that it is not in the process of imposing new shutdowns in the face of the increase in Omicron variants all over the U.S.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed she was confident that president Joe Biden would “issue a stark warning. He will also make clear unvaccinated individuals will continue to drive hospitalizations and deaths” in his COVID-19 message on Tuesday.

“This is not a speech about locking the country down,” Psaki declared.

“This is a speech outlining and being direct and clear with the American people about the benefits of being vaccinated, the steps we’re going to take to increase access and to increase testing, and the risks posed to unvaccinated individuals.”

The Omicron variant that is highly transmissible was first discovered within the U.S. on December 2 and since then has been detected in 47 states.

The virus has already struck New York, New Jersey, and New Jersey, responsible for about 13 % of the cases in the last week.
