Karnal, February 14: The leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, Rakesh Tikait, said on Sunday that they will not allow the government to feel at peace until the farmers’ demands are met.
Addressing a farmers “mahapanchayat” at the Indri grain market in the district, Tikait said the 40 leaders leading the agitation against the farm laws will tour across the country to gain support for the protest.
“Until the moment the government does not decide in our favor, talks to the committee (which is leading the agitation) and does not agree with the demands, we will not leave it alone,” said Tikait, demanding the repeal of the laws. .
He reiterated that agricultural laws “will end the public distribution system.” The laws will not only affect farmers, but also small traders, day laborers and other sections, he said.

Tikait said that the “panch” and the “manch” will remain the same. “Any decision the committee makes is acceptable to everyone. The country’s farmers support it,” Tikait said.
In addition to Tikait, farmer leaders Balbir Singh Rajewal, Darshan Pal and Haryana BKU chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni were also present.
Rajewal said farmers have been protesting for months but the government does not listen to their demands. Pal said that several farmers have died during the protest and that “their sacrifice will not be in vain.”
