The Cooch Behar Dakshin Assembly / Vidhan Sabha constituency is located in the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. It belongs to the Cooch Behar (SC) Lok Sabha constituency.
The constituency has 2,23,026 voters and 255 polling stations.

In the 2016 West Bengal Assembly elections, Mihir Goswami from the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the seat from Cooch Behar Dakshin, garnering more than 82,849 votes. Akshay Thakur of the All India Forward Bloc won the seat in the 2011 assembly elections, while Congress held the seat between 1969 and 1979.
According to the 2011 census estimates, of a total of 2.87,879 inhabitants, 72.93 percent are rural and 27.07 percent are urban. Under the orders of the Delimitation Commission, Cooch Behar Dakshin (Vidhan Sabha constituency) covers Cooch Behar and Chandamari township, Chilkirhat, Falimari, Ghughumari, Haribhanga, Moyamari, Patchhara, Putimari Fuleswari and Suktabari gram panchayats of the community development block Cooch Behar I.
The AITC took a hit when Goswami defected to the BJP in November last year, stating in a Facebook post that the party’s reins are no longer in the hands of West Bengal’s chief minister, Mamata Banerjee. He also resigned from all organizational positions in the party and accused election strategist Prashant Kishor’s I-PAC, who is handling Banerjee’s re-election bid, of ruining the party.
Goswami has held various administrative positions, including the leadership of the Jaigaon Development Authority and the North Bengal State Transport Corporation.
The Cooch Behar Dakshin Assembly constituency is expected to go to the polls in April or May 2021, as part of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections.
The West Bengal Assembly elections will be held to elect a total of 294 members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
