Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will file nomination papers for his Gorakhpur
Constituency this Friday in the forthcoming state assembly elections.
CM Yogi will be joined by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and top BJP leaders to file his
nomination papers late in the morning.
According to reports, the chief minister will be filing his nomination papers in the early
hours of 11.40 at the time of filing on Friday.
Before this, Shah, who is also one of the most popular campaigners of the BJP for UP
elections, is scheduled to speak at a public gathering at 10.50 am at the Maharana Pratap
Inter College Grounds in Gorakhpur this morning.
It is noteworthy that BJP is the only political party to be elected in Uttar Pradesh which
declared their chief ministerial candidate, CM Adityanath, for the forthcoming State
Assembly elections scheduled to be held in seven phases starting the 10th of February.
On the 15th of January, BJP made it clear that Yogi Adityanath would contest the
Gorakhpur constituency for the upcoming Assembly elections.
In the wake of the announcement of his candidacy, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav
has also announced that he would be contesting in Karhal within the Mainpuri Assembly
seat.
Amit Shah, who served as BJP chief between 2014 and 20th of this year, has been crucial in
securing Uttar Pradesh for the party in 2014, 2017, and 2019, using his successful strategy
of establishing relationships with workers from the party.
The voting will take place in seven phases in Uttar Pradesh on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27,
March 3, and 7. The votes count will begin at the end of the 10th of March. 10. In this
year’s Assembly elections in 2017, the BJP triumphed in a massive way taking 312
Assembly seats.
