Congress Leader and M.P. Rahul Gandhi have unleashed a scathing attack on the Prime
Minister’s foreign policy and accused the Prime Minister of “bringing China and Pakistan.”
together.
In a speech, he blasted the BJP government and the BJP-led government.
Rahul Gandhi stated that Pakistan is surrounded by rivals from all sides and has become at
a disadvantage in the region.
“The nation is at risk from outside and inside. and I don’t like that. This worries me,” said
the politician.
The Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S Jaishankar, responded on Twitter by citing the four
examples of China and Pakistan working together even when the BJP did not have control.
“Perhaps, some history lessons are in order,” Jaishankar tweeted while addressing the Mr
mentioned above, Gandhi.
“The strategic goal of India should have been to keep China and Pakistan separate. But
what you have done is to bring them together. Do not underestimate what we are facing.
This is a serious threat to India,” said the president.
Relations among Pakistan and China have grown stronger, particularly following the
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was announced in 2015.
The relationship extends beyond an economic partnership to developing militarily-based
cooperation between these countries, including joint exercises, arms deals, and defense
pacts.
Both countries have a Free Trade Agreement. The largest nuclear power plant in Pakistan
opened in 2000 was constructed within Karachi with Chinese aid.
China has also declared that it was ready to build “friendly and cooperative” relations with
Afghanistan after the Taliban took over the country.
Many experts believe that the Taliban received support from Pakistan’s security
establishment Pakistan security establishment during their training to take over
Afghanistan.
Recognition of the newly elected government, which many anticipate taking place within
the next few days will also aid in helping China secure its investments in strategic areas
close to Pakistan.
Refuting the charge in response to the accusation, Dr. Jaishankar pointed out the instances
where China and Pakistan cooperated while Congress was in the central government.
“Rahul Gandhi alleged in Lok Sabha that this Government brought Pakistan and China
together. Perhaps, some history lessons are in order,” he wrote on Twitter and referenced
four examples.
“In 1963,” Pakistan unlawfully transferred China to the Shaksgam valley China.
China constructed the Karakoram highway that runs through PoK in the 70s.
From the 1970sonwards, both countries enjoyed an extensive nuclear partnership.
In 2013 China-Pakistan Economic Corridor started,” He added.
The Congress MP also said that India did not have a guest on Republic Day this year
because the nation has been “completely isolated and surrounded.”
“We are surrounded in Nepal, Afghanistan, China,” the MP said and called the situation
“the single biggest crime against the people of India.”
Dr. Jaishankar, in a separate tweet, said that foreign visitors weren’t physically present due
to the severity of the pandemic and that they hosted the summit online on the 27th of
January.
In a jab at Gandhi’s trips abroad and travels, he stated”that “those who live in India.”
recognize that we’re in the middle of an epidemic.
“In Lok Sabha, @RahulGandhi noted that we were not able to have an international guest
to celebrate Republic Day. Those who reside in India know that we were in the middle of
the corona wave.
Five Central Asian Presidents were scheduled to meet together for an online summit on
January 27. Did Rahul Gandhi not attend that meeting also?” he said.
“It is obvious that the Chinese and Pakistanis are planning. Look at the weapons they are
buying; look at how they are talking. We have made a massive blunder, and I am sure we
can defend against the Chinese,” he added.
Not only external threats Not just external threats, but Mr. Gandhi also added that the country was “weakened” and “our institutions are under attack.”
“We made a huge strategic mistake in Jammu and Kashmir,” the official said, perhaps
referring to the revocation in Article 370 that revoked the special status that was granted
for the State.
He also stated that conflict is increasing across border countries.
