Former captain Younis Khan resigned as Pakistan’s hitting coach on Tuesday in a surprise decision that, according to the cricket board, was agreed “reluctantly but amicably”, although the reasons for this were not specified.

“The Pakistan men’s national cricket team will travel to the UK without a hitting coach, while the decision to nominate Younis Khan’s replacement for the West Indies tour will be made in due course,” said a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board two days before the team’s departure. .
The announcement was followed by speculation that Younis himself had decided to leave the position because he was unhappy with his position and wanted to have more voice in recruitment matters.

Younis, who remains Pakistan’s best test runner with over 10,000 races, has had his fair share of cricket system problems.
