A major fire in Delhi's Gokalpuri

Officials said seven people died in the major fire at Delhi’s Gokalpuri on Friday evening.

 Today, the Delhi Fire Service department reported that the fire was put out by Friday night and Saturday. 

Officials located seven bodies at the scene of the incident.

Further, the department officials informed that 13 firemen rushed to the scene after collecting information about the incident.

Additional Deputy Commissioner for Police (northeast), Devesh Kumar Mahla, stated that the fire was received at around 1 am and that police and fire officials arrived on the scene.

“A fire broke out in Gokalpuri PS at 1 AM. All rescue equipment was immediately brought to the scene by emergency teams. We also reached out to the fire department, who responded quickly.”

 “We were able to put out the fire by 4 AM,” stated Additional DCP, North East Delhi. Sixty huts were burned in the fire.

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister, expressed his grief at the incident.

“Heard the bad news in the early hours of the morning. He tweeted in Hindi, “I will go to the spot. Meet the affected people.”
