Australia imposes new sanctions on Russian companies.
SYDNEY: On Thursday, Australia imposed targeted financial restrictions on 14 Russian state-owned industries, including truckmaker Kamaz and shipping companies SEVMASH and United Shipbuilding Corp.
According to Foreign Minister Marise Payne, they will also impose sanctions. It produces about 80% of all Russian electronics components and Russian Railways in response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
Russia has announced the commencement of a “special military operation” in Ukraine, blaming Ukraine for civilian casualties and accusing Kyiv of demonizing Russian troops.

About 600 persons and institutions have now been sanctioned by Australia, including the majority of Russia’s banking industry and all organizations responsible for the country’s sovereign debt.
It has also provided Ukraine with defense and humanitarian aid while prohibiting the shipment of alumina and aluminum ores, including bauxite, to Russia.
