The 32-year old Gabon striker signed an agreement on Monday night however did not
officially disclose it until the following Wednesday.
Aubameyang’s agreement will run until the 30th of June in 2025.
The deal also offers a possibility of a decision to leave in June 2023.
The value also comes with a buyout clause that is 100million euros (PS83.4m).
Barcelona The move would be dead at some moment on the day of the deadline for
transfers despite Aubameyang traveling from Spain.
“I’m very proud and happy to be here,” said Aubameyang.
“My primary objective is to support the team and do all I can to help bring them back in its
place in the Champions League. ”
The ex- Borussia Dortmund striker with 92 points over 163 appearances for Arsenal and
was never a player for the Gunners due to a violation of the rules of discipline during
December.
This forward took a flight back to Spain on Monday and was seen practicing with members
of the Spanish team on Tuesday.
Arsenal has signed Aubameyang for a fee of PS56m in January 2018.
Still, his departure as a free transfer came after he was removed from the captaincy in
connection with an incident of discipline.
In March, he was removed from the victory over the north London rivals Tottenham due to
a “breach of pre-match protocol.”
His move to Barcelona will cost the Gunners around PS15m in wages.
However, the manager Mikel Arteta without Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as his
sole central strikers this season.
In a message shared via social networks on Tuesday this week, Aubameyang thanked
Arsenal’s fans for their loyalty and added that the move “hurt” to leave in the same
circumstances.
“We went through ups and downs together, and your support meant everything to me,” the
singer said.
“I am always wholly determined and focused on doing all I can to help this club, which is
why not saying goodbye is challenging; however that’s football.
“I’m sorry I didn’t get to assist my teammates over the last couple of weeks, but I have
nothing except respect for this team, and sincerely, I wish all my players and all the fans
well and many prosperous years to come! “
