Barcelona has begun talks with Wolves regarding a possible deal to renew the contract of Spain forward Adama Traore.

The Catalan club seeks an initial loan deal that includes the obligation to purchase after the season.

The move is a blow to Tottenham’s hope of signing the 26-year old He began his professional career with Barcelona.

BBC Sport understands Antonio Conte’s club could get a PS15 million offer on Traore rejected this week, but sources from the London club have denied making an offer.

Traore is on an 18-months remaining contract with Molineux, and talks about an extension have not yet concluded.

He quit the Nou Camp to join Aston Villa in 2015 and was in Middlesbrough until he joined Wolves to pay a club-record PS18m in 2018.

The winger has played 150 appearances with the Black Country club, scoring 11 goals.
