Since joining Manchester City from Monaco in 2017, Mendy has made 50 Premier League appearances for the English side. He is also a world cup champion and has 10 caps for France. After being charged with offences, Man City suspended the left-back defender.

Meanwhile, Manchester City has been declared Premier League champions for the 2021/22 season, their fourth win in the previous five years. City won the championship with a 3-2 victory against Aston Villa in the last game of the season, finishing one point clear of second-placed Liverpool after a gruelling title race.

It is Pep Guardiola’s 11th major award since taking over as City manager in 2016, during which the Catalan and his backroom team have revolutionized City’s style of play.

Man City turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead over Aston Villa in only five minutes and 36 seconds in the second half.

Ilkay Gundogan, who came in as a substitute only eight minutes before scoring the first of his two goals, was the match-winner. Rodri was the Premier League champions’ other goal scorer. With their first game attempt, Matty Cash headed Lucas Digne’s cross past Ederson in 37 minutes; Villa seized the lead. In 69 minutes, Philippe Coutinho extended Villa’s lead after Ollie Watkins squandered a golden opportunity to make it 2-0.

With 14 minutes left, Gundogan headed home a cross from Raheem Sterling at the far post to equalize.

On 78 minutes, Rodri struck low into the bottom-left corner to make it 2-2. When Kevin De Bruyne surged into the area and crossed for Gundogan to tap in, the comeback was complete. The city has won 29, drew six, and lost three league matches this season, scoring 99 goals.
