Bernal returns on the bike after two months of a horror crash.
Egan Bernal, a Colombian cyclist, said he was relieved to be back on his bike barely two months after a near-fatal accident that necessitated three operations.
Bernal, who won the 2019 Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia last year, underwent neurosurgery in January after colliding with a stationary bus in Colombia.
He suffered a fractured vertebra, right femur, right patella, chest damage, and a punctured lung.
According to the 25-year-old, he has a 95% probability of becoming a paraplegic due to the event.

However, he was released from the hospital in February and has since uploaded an Instagram photo of himself cycling on the road, calling it the “happiest day” of his life.
“I’m here after two months and 20 shattered bones, and I want more. So, guys, I’ll see you on the road, “Bernal remarked.
Bernal has recently renewed his contract with the Ineos Grenadiers team through 2026, making him the youngest rider to win the Tour in more than a century.
