Bhagwant Mann To Be Evicted From MP Flat In Delhi By Lok Sabha Secretariat

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has requested the Directorate of Estates to commence eviction proceedings against AAP leader and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for “unauthorized” use of a Central government residence here was assigned to him as a member of parliament. In March, Mr Mann resigned as Sangrur MP to become Punjab’s chief minister.

In its plea before the estate’s officer, the Secretariat claimed Mr Mann was allocated the Central government’s Duplex No 33, North Avenue, together with its units and 153 North Avenue, as his usual lodging as a member of the 17th Lok Sabha.

“The aforementioned allotment stands revoked in his name with effect from April 14,” it said, adding Mr Mann failed to remove the property.

The LS Secretariat stated the occupancy of the premises by the former MP beyond April 13 is “unauthorised”.

“It is, therefore, urged the processes for eviction of Bhagwant Mann, ex-MP and all people may be launched, and orders for their eviction be given,” says the petition addressed to the estate’s officer.

There was no quick comment forthcoming from the Punjab chief minister’s office. According to official paperwork, the lodging has now been provided to Hanuman Beniwal, the RLP president and an MP from Rajasthan.

Central government officials, MPs, judges and other dignitaries are allocated residential housing in the national capital while they are in service and assigned in Delhi.

After their tenure expires or ends prematurely, they are no longer entitled to occupy the accommodation.

As the PRS Legislative, to evict a person from residential housing, a Central government estate officer first gives written notice to the individual involved.

They need to show cause why an eviction notice should not be issued against them within three working days.
