Biden sign bill that raises U.S. debt limit into law. 

President Joe Biden signed on Thursday an act to increase the U.S. debt limit into law according to the White House said in a statement. 

The move prevented what would be an unprecedented default.

The U.S. Congress on Tuesday approved increasing the federal government’s borrowing power by $2.5 trillion, to around $31.4 trillion. 

Congress then sent the bill to Vice President Joe Biden to approve.
