In a letter to the Election Commission on Wednesday, the Samajwadi Party claimed that the BJP, which is in power, had used official resources to win the byelections for the Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha seats. The party also demanded that the Election Commission issue free and fair elections guidelines.
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), urged voters to support SP candidates in the byelections and warned them not to fall for the “lies” of the BJP before Thursday’s voting.
In a letter to the chief electoral officer of Uttar Pradesh, the opposition party accused the BJP of trying to rig the elections and restricting votes for the SP. The byelections are scheduled for June 23.
According to the letter, police should be given explicit instructions to conduct free, open, and fair elections and cease abusing public resources.
Naresh Uttam Patel, head of the SP state unit, said that the saffron party was determined to abuse its authority out of a fear of losing. He said that plans are being made to accuse Samajwadi Party employees falsely.

The SP workers and village heads are intimidated by the administration in numerous areas in the Sagadi, Gopalpur, and Mehnagar assembly constituency of Azamgarh, the party, said in its letter.
Additionally, it alleged that local BJP officials and workers had compiled a list of SP active members to dissuade SP supporters from voting and cause other voting-related issues.
According to the report, the list was supplied to the police so the employees could be picked up from their homes by the appropriate station house officers.
The BJP government’s ministers, according to the party, are allegedly pressuring government and police station heads into supporting their party’s candidates.
In a statement, the SP president pleaded with voters to support the party’s contenders in Azamgarh and Rampur, respectively, Dharmendra Yadav and Asim Raza.
“You (voters) should be vigilant against the BJP’s falsehoods. The saffron party is deceiving the public by spreading misinformation on social media. I and “Netaji” (Mulayam Singh Yadav) are members of the Azamgarh community, not outsiders. The people of Azamgarh elected both of us to the parliament “, said he.
Akhilesh Yadav said to the residents of Rampur, “With several construction initiatives, Azam Khan transformed Rampur, and he also made outstanding contributions to the area of education. I urge voters to support SP candidates for both seats.” “Rampur residents are tired of bulldozers, corruption, and inflation. Any improvements made were carried out by the previous SP administration, “said he.
According to the SP leader Rampur and Azamgarh, people know that the BJP threatens democracy.
“The BJP is working to eliminate the constitutionally protected human rights. The populace is being subjected to black laws. Even young girls are falling prey to rape nowadays, not only women. Students’ scholarships, the poor’s rations, and farmers’ honoraria are being stolen. Unemployment affects young people. Additionally, inflation is rising “added said.
Mr Yadav continued by saying that the Samajwadi Party is the only choice of the public.
