Bomb blast in Pakistan’s Peshawar mosque kills 55 people: Many injured. 

At least 56 people were killed, and 200 were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a crowded Shia mosque in northwest Pakistan’s Peshawar during the Friday prayer. This is one of the deadliest in the restive province close to Afghanistan.

During Friday prayers in Peshawar, a blast happened at an Imambargah near the Qissa Khwani Bazaar area. 

In Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, no group claimed responsibility for the blast right away. Afghanistan is a country that borders the region. 

However, the Islamic State and other groups that fight against Shias have claimed responsibility for deadly attacks on Shias in the past.

An official from the Lady Reading Hospital says that at least 56 people were killed, and 194 were hurt in the blast.

An eyewitness said that the suicide bomber was a person dressed in black who entered the mosque, shot and killed the security guard, and then fired five to six shots. 

“Before he could get to the main hall, he blew himself up in front of the pulpit. Bodies and people who had been hurt lay everywhere, “They told Geo News.

A spokesman for the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government said two terrorists were behind the suicide bombing.

He told the media that a suicide bomber in Peshawar caused the explosion. A man told me that two attackers were, but a suicide bomber killed only one. 

Ansari said that after the terrorist entered the mosque, he opened fire on worshippers and then blew himself up, PTI said.

About five to six kilograms of explosives were used in the blast, which took place in the third row of a mosque, said Ansari. People who were on vacation were called in to help at the hospital. 

Officials say that some of the hurt people are in critical condition. Officer Ijaz Ahsan says two people tried to get into the mosque and fired at the police protecting it. 

There was a police officer who died and another who was in terrible shape. He said There was a blast after someone fired at someone else, he said.

President Arif Alvi was very sorry for the people who died in the blast. However, Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, was furious about the blast and told the authorities to help the hurt people. 

He also asked for an investigation report from the people who were involved. Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed asked for a report on what happened. 

The chief secretary and chief inspector general were asked to give it to him.

Minister: “We had a meeting a couple of days ago, but we didn’t get a threat alert. We didn’t know about this.” 

Mahmood Khan, the chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, said he was shocked by the blast and would bring the people who did this to justice. 

He said that attacking people in a place of worship is cruel, and he told the authorities to make sure the people who were hurt got the best care. 

He has called an emergency meeting at the Chief Minister’s House to look at the overall security situation in the province, which is close to Afghanistan.

“In Peshawar, there was a tragic terrorist attack that took so many lives. Words can’t do justice to the sheer cruelty of what happened. Terrorism is still our biggest problem as a country. Prayers and condolences are being sent to the families of the dead.” Twitter: PML-N President and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif tweeted about the government.

Ex-President Asif Ali Zardari said that if “nurseries of terrorism” had been destroyed, the attack would not have occurred. 

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Pakistan People’s Party leader, also made a statement about the Peshawar attack. He said the terrorists attacked humanity by killing innocent worshipers.
